Waterloo
Battle of Waterloo, 1815
On June 18, 1815, Château d'Hougoumont a large farmhouse garrisoned by the 2nd Battalion, Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards, was attacked by the might of Napoleon's army. The battle started at 10:00 with a furious attack upon Hougoumont. This first attack failed and it continued for the rest of the day. Throughout that day the stubborn defense drew thousands of valuable French troops.
