Product Details

Maximilian von Weichs was a German field marshal during WW2 and Knights Cross recipient. He commanded his own Corps during the invasion of Poland and was given command of the 2nd Army for the invasion of Russia. He commanded them at the battles of Smolensk and Kiev and then went south with General von Paulus to Stalingrad. It was here that Weichs Army Group B was cut in half by the Russian counter-attack ‘Operation Uranus’. Weichs advocated a tactical retreat, this did not go down well with old man Hitler who relieved him of this command and posted him to the Balkans, after promoting him to field marshal. Something of a relief I imagine after the hardship of the Russian front!

It was here that Weichs was responsible for curtailing Partisan activity by any means deemed necessary including the taking of hostages.

Retired by Hitler in March 1945, Weichs was arrested after the war by the Americans and was supposed to stand trial for war crimes against the Balkan partisans. He was lucky enough to have all charges dropped due to illness and died in retirement in 1954.

Please note the sample we were sent of Weichs has black glasses as per the photos, the final production pieces will have Weichs wearing silver glasses which look more authentic.

Weichsl seated with his field marshal baton and a cuppa’ is limited to 100 in number
