ROM009 Roman Cornifer

A ‘Cornifer’ was a non commissioned officer in the Roman Army who played the ‘cornu’ horn which was used to signal salutes and sound orders to the Legions. They also acted as assistants to the Centurion (like an Optio) and received double the pay of an ordinary Legionary.
