Walker_LB - 54th Regiment of Line Infantry Fusiliers

At Waterloo the 54th French Line were an experienced Regiment with well-trained veteran troops. The Fusiliers made up the bulk of the regiment. They advanced in the first massive infantry attack on Wellington's line at about 1 pm. Their objective was the farm in the center of the battle field, La Haie Sainte. Initially their attack succeeded, capturing the orchard and surrounding the farm. They tried to rush the doors, gates and walls of the farm but were continually repulsed by the steadfast defenders. When the British Heavy Cavalry charged across the battlefield their attack was dispersed. But afterward they continued their assault on the farm until the final successful attack made by the 13th Légère under Marshal Ney.
