September 2009 is the 250th Anniversary of The Battle of The Plains of Abraham
The Quebec city fortifications during the siege of 1759 were reasonably extensive.
From 1745 the landward side of the city was enclosed by extensive earthworks, and stone defences designed by Chief Engineer Chaussegros de Lery, part of which included the Saint-Louis Gate.
