The first and largest of two Longhouses for the Woodland Indian Village
Longhouses were homes used by the Iroquois tribes. The Iroquois were farming people who lived in permanent villages. They were built in a similar way to wigwams, with pole frames and elm bark covering. The main difference is that the longhouses were much larger, but the size did vary, and could be good homes for as many as twenty families.
