Medieval Collection - Rosemary Rich
As a little girl her father (John) built her a beautiful dollhouse. I played with it all the time, using small figures. As I got older I loved looking at displays the stores set up at Christmas time of the miniature villages. In fact I secretly wished I could actually help do the displays when I was younger!
I was so in awe and always wanted a large miniature collection myself. I started collecting modern day Christmas houses years ago but would get sad after the holidays were over and had to put everything away.
So the only cure for that was to collect a village I could keep out all year round! Since I like the ancient buildings and old historical times I chose to go with the Roman, Egyptians and later added on Medieval. I was thrilled when Sierra Toy Co. started to get the King & Country Egyptian pieces in.
I prefer the everyday living & peaceful scenes over battle scenes.
After a long day it is so nice to light all the buildings up and sit back and relax. It's quite peaceful. My collection was small when I started out but kept adding more buildings and figures & it grew much larger over time. There's always room for improvement and making scenes look better and better. It's a great passion and side hobby and I even started to learn about painting some figures myself so it opened up several other interest for me.
Rosemary was born in the Bronx, New York, recently she retired from the US Army where she had served for 21 years. Her collection of toy soldiers and figures currently stands at about 555. In addition to her passion for Medieval, her collections also include Egyptian and Romans, which we hope to display shortly.
